When it comes to whether you’re going to move or not – most people agree that no one really enjoys moving all that much. What they do from there and how they deal with that depends entirely on the people you’re dealing with.

Some folks though – they like to get it over quick. They know it’s going to be tough no matter what – so they figure, why not just throw everything into one, short push and we’ll take it from there.

If you fall into that category, then this month’s blog is for you. If you’re thinking about moving in a short period of time, there are a lot of advantages to doing so, but there are also some things to consider carefully before taking the plunge. Here’s what you can expect – both the good and the bad – should you decide to move in a short period of time.

The pros

Simply put, a fast move can result in a positive, fresh start sooner rather than later. Everything will seem new and exciting and perhaps that rut you’ve found yourself in personally won’t seem so deep and endless. In fact, both the light at the end of the tunnel and the actual end of the tunnel will be in sight!

The next perk of moving fast is that it allows you to take advantage of new opportunities that may come your way. If you’re looking to take a prestigious new position at a new company, your ability to move up and out and to the location of your hopeful new place of employment can be a significant advantage during the hiring process. Being mobile and having the ability to change gears quickly is very meaningful to new employers.

And lastly personal growth does play a little into things as well. Being in a new place gets you out of your comfort zone and can make you more self-reliant and resilient. Moving quickly is a challenge, but facing those changes can help you grow as a person.

The cons

While moving quickly is advantageous in the right situation – make no mistake. It will cost you more. From the usual costs associated with moving like packing boxes and the like – you’ll also have a quicker turn around for your move – which means movers and the like will have to adapt what they’re doing – which also will come at a cost. So if you decide to move quickly, understand that it will likely cost you a little more.

Second, packing will be a challenge as well. Getting things from A to B seems like it’s not a big deal. But you know how these things go when you’re an adult. Even basic things just take longer than you anticipated. So your ability to pack, declutter and keep yourself organized on a timeline – is going to be significantly restrained.

Lastly – moving in a short period of time is stressful. Make no bones about it – we’d like to give huge kudos to the people tough enough to handle it and heck – you might be one of those people. But moving quickly isn’t for the faint of heart and trust us – you will feel the stress. It’s not an easy thing to pick your life up and simply transport it to a totally new situation.

Whatever reasons you have for wanting to move, remember that it’s one of life’s five most significant events and it’s something that shouldn’t be taken lightly. With so much to consider (yes, we got a little zen-ish on you today), we hope these tips and advise can help you make the decision that’s best for you.

Good luck!
